#ACTIVE SKY NEXT VS OPUS MANUALS#
I flew from Vancouver last night and there were 3 layers of clouds, turbulence and snow - I was battling an OOM all the way but it did look amazing! ) The Opus manuals are really detailed and a must read - you can tweak the settings to work well for you. It can be a cause of OOM's (for me) so just keep it in mind. One thing to keep in mind is not to have too high texture resolution for the clouds in Rex 4 as Opus can load a LOT of weather/clouds/conditions - I have a fast system and it can bring it to its knees if I'm not careful! I go with 1024 or 2048 textures, swapping between them after I have checked the weather for the flight. Rex are releasing a new weather engine I believe to go alongside their Textures and a couple of other products but I would recommend Rex Textures combined with Opus Weather - you will really like them both! Plus I think Opus are developing something new too this year. 1 by 1 and side by side comparison of Active Sky Next, FS Global Real Weather and Opus. When activated, it gives the Team War Cry buff to all allies (including drones and turrets) for 7 seconds. They also update their software almost weekly! Not only that but the support from the guys there is the best (Orbx aside -)) that I have come across. I used to have Rex Essentials Overdrive and that has the weather engine included too - but I didn't really like it and I find Opus to be a superb weather engine. I use Rex Direct 4 Textures only and then use the Opus weather engine - for me it is a great combination.
